Happy Birthday Edwired

It’s a bit hard for me to believe, but this past Monday Edwired turned five.

In those five years I’ve published more than 375 posts, approved almost 700 comments (and spammed countless thousands), and have found the entire experience to be amazingly enriching.  Some of my posts have found their way into print in books written by others, I’ve been slammed as a “renegade blogger,” and I’ve made many new friends, most of whom I know only in the digital world.

Over the years that I’ve been blogging I’ve seen many excellent history blogs come and go and I greatly lament the demise of some, such as Digital History Hacks. One of the things I have most enjoyed in the past few years is writing for other history blogs, including Hist.net (Switzerland) and most recently the The Underwater Blogger.

Unlike so many of my friends and colleagues who have forsaken blogging for Twitter, I still find it quite useful to write in complete sentences and paragraphs, so if you are a regular reader, fear not. Edwired will continue.
