If you are a history teacher (or really just a teacher) with a desire to help make the world a better place and have some time on your hands this summer (or next), I highly recommend a stint as a volunteer with Teachers Across Borders. This very worthy NGO is currently seeking volunteer teachers to help with their project in Cambodia. I went to Cambodia as a volunteer myself two years ago and had a marvelous experience, both with Teachers Across Borders as the facilitator of my work and with the Cambodian teachers I was working with. Anyone with several years of teaching experience can make a difference in a school system that was essentially destroyed in the 1970s by the Khmer Rouge and has struggled to recover ever since.
