I just found out today that I’ll be spending my spring break teaching a four day workshop on teaching history and using technology in that teaching in Phnom Penh. This is something that has been in the works for a while, but was only confirmed this morning. I owe huge thanks to Teachers Across Borders for arranging this workshop and to the Provost’s office here at GMU for helping to fund the trip.
Teachers Across Borders is an international NGO that works to help rebuild educational systems devastated by such things as civil war and natural disasters–everything from helping the Cambodian educational system rebuild itself after sixteen years of oppression by the Khmer Rouge to helping schools on the American Gulf Coast rebuild their library collections after hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
Needless to say, this is going to be a very exciting opportunity for me. Now I have to go get the shots!
