Internationalizing the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in History (Part II)

Our second meeting of the new steering committee of the International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in History took place yesterday and resulted in a provisional agreement with Barbara Cambridge of the ISSOTL that we can become one of ISSOTL’s first affiliated societies. Now we just need to spruce up the website–my preference is to use the courseware pluging for WordPress that my colleagues Jeremy Boggs and Josh Greenberg have developed. Then it’s off to the races, otherwise known as promoting the new society to all and sundry who might be interested. I’ll be interested to see what kind of reception we get. Will the membership be limited to the few people we already know? Or are there lots more of us lurking out there in the world wide weeds just waiting to become part of an international society like ours. Time will tell…

For now, I’m on my way to Florence for the opening plenary of the Research Network 1989 (and blogging from a Starbucks in the Frankfurt Airport…

    I have talked to David Gerwin about what this newly organized group is doing. If it would meet your anticipated needs, H-Net would be interested in hosting a listserv specifically for this group. As you probably know, there is no fee for H-Net lists and the editorial board determines whether or not the membership is open or closed. Please contact me at woestman at pittstate dot edu if you have any interest in discussing this further.
